My 3rd New York trip - HUGE PHOTO POST- October 2014 - 1st part

This was our third time in NYC,so we went to see what we missed in the previous trips,and something new that(sadly) wasn't there before.Here's why there are not many "classic" locations in this photo recap.

I tried to keep it as concise as i could,any curiosity you may have on any pic,just ask!

The fountains built in place of the Twin towers.Huge and so terribly sad!Built so you can never really see the bottom,they seem infinite.

A number of persons who witnessed the facts were asked to paint a little sheet with the color they remembered the sky was,that day.

Oh!Dixieland! My southern states June 2014 trip (photo post)

Hi everyone!This is a picture recap of my June 2014 road trip in the so-called "southern states":Tennessee,Alabama,Georgia,Missouri....cradle of country music (which we adore!!!).There is a detailed journal of our trip in this forum , but sadly it is in italian only,and needs registration to be read.If you will subscribe you'll be able to see all the pics at least!

Lynchburg,Tennessee:La distilleria del Jack Daniels.La gioia non è indotta alcolicamente,ma dovuta al fatto che c'era stato un nubifragio e sembrava la visita non si potesse fare.E invece...in meno di un' ora tutto riparato.Grandi americani!Di questo vorrei fare un post a parte perchè c'è veramente tanto da raccontare,la visita è fatta benissimo.

Lynchbyurg,Tennesse:the Jack Daniel's distillery,there had been a heavy rain and we feared the visit couldn't be made,but after about an hour of waitin' they had it all fixed!Expect an estensive post on this because it has been great indeed ^^ 

Huntsville,Alabama: U.S: Space & Rocket center, è un affiliato dello Smithsonian ed è uno dei tre centri più importanti della  NASA aperto ai visitatori: qui sono state gettate le basi  per portare il primo uomo sulla luna!  All'esterno ci sono anche aerei militari,carri armati e razzi assortiti,per la gioia del mio Sire ^^

Huntsville,Alabama,where the bases for man's trip to the moon have been laid:rockets,spaceships,and,for the joy of my Sire,tanks and war planes on the outside

Nashville,Tennessee:un pasto leggero all'Hard Rock Cafè,ribs(il nostro cibo americano preferito)ovvero costine di maiale,insalata di cavolo cappuccio e patatine.

Sempre a Nashville,abbiamo visto un bel museo dedicato al Country,con memorabilia,abiti e strumenti vari appartenuti a famosi artisti del genere.La sobrietà non la fa da padrona.

C'era anche questa chitarrona gigante,ma in realtà la foto l'ho messa per farvi vedere il piccione,che abbiamo portato come portafortuna per il tempo atmosferico,visto che nell'ultimo on the road avevamo preso pioggia per 12 giorni su 14(!!!).Devo dire che ha funzionato!!!

Vi ricordate Hazzard,e nello specifico il  meccanico Cooter???L'attore che lo interpretava ha aperto questa specie di museo/negozio,dove vengono raccolte tonnellate di memorabilia relative alla mitica serie tv... 

Remember the Dukes of Hazzard?the guy who played Cooter opened this shop/museum,and here the stuff in display is pretty embarrassing...yet we loved the place,we both grew up watching this show,so...

Siamo ovviamente andati a vedere delle band che suonavano dal vivo....

...che probabilmente erano UN PO' STUFE di sentirsi richiedere sempre gli stessi successi del southern rock!!!

Abbiamo fatto poi un salto a Metropolis,Illinois,per fare la foto con la statua gigante di Superman

Arrivati a Saint Louis,Missouri,un altro pasto leggero dal mitico Pappy's:patate fritte dolci,salsicce,pannocchia e maiale sfilacciato.Fenomenale e meritevole la lunga fila!.

Il giorno dopo siamo saliti sull'arco,da cui si può vedere una splendida vista della città!

Dall'altro lato si vede il Mississippi,non ve lo posto perchè non è un gran bel vedere ;)

Abbiamo fatto il tour della fabbrica della Budweiser,niente a che vedere con quello,davvero ben fatto,della Jack Daniels:di quello potrei farvi un post intero apposta,davvero ti mostravano tutti i passaggi nel dettaglio e ti spiegavano bene tutto.Qui due pimpanti ragazzotti ci hanno spiegato 4 cose in croce e poi via nel gift shop!Però ci hanno offerto una birra gratis ^^

The Budweiser tour,short and not so interesting.But we got a free beer at the end of a free tour,so can we complain?I guess we can't ;)

Memphis,Tennesse:Graceland,la tenuta dove visse (e morì) Elvis Presley.Interessantissimo e toccante!

In centro a Memphis,al Deja vu,pranziamo a bocconcini di alligatore fritto...e altre cose che vedete qui.

Obbligatoria anche la visita ai Sun Studios,dove Elvis ha registrato la prima canzone,a spese sue,per regalarla alla mamma.

In serata siamo andati a fare un giro nella zona negozietti/baretti per ascoltare un pò di musica,ed abbiamo trovato che proprio quel giorno facevano la Gibson marathon(una corsa sponsorizzata dalla famosa marca di chitarre)

Anche qui musica dal vivo,stavolta un gruppo blues molto bravo!E anche il pubblico era uno spettacolo ;)

These time we listened to some very good played blues music.These guys were great!And the audience was part of the show,too.

Arrivati a Natchez,Mississipi,andiamo un salto a visitare questa magione in quanto set esterno della casa di Russel Edgington in True Blood.Ho messo pure la magliettina del Merlotte's per l'occasione!

Louisiana,i tipici alberi con sopra il "muschio spagnolo",così chiamato perchè ricordava le barbe dei conquistadores spagnoli

Oak Alley,la piantagione dove hanno girato Intervista col vampiro,il film 

con Tom Cruise e Brad Pitt.Bellissima la visita guidata!

A New Orleans,di sera.La sagra dell'ubriaco sfatto e della puzza di piscio e vomito,non andateci,neppure se vi offrono il viaggio.Un vero squallore,nel senso peggiore del termine!

New Orleans,i'm sorry but it is the first and last time i'll be visiting this realm of the drunk-in-the-baddest-way people,where the stink of rotten fish,piss and vomit filled my nose to over the limit.

L'unica cosa buona di New Orleans(o quasi),la southern pecan pie che abbiamo preso a fine cena al Gumbo shop!

My only good memory of the city:Southern pecan pie at the Gumbo shop.

Il giorno dopo un giretto per il French quarter,per scoprire che lo storico Cafè du monde è gestito da cinesi e presenta una folla di turisti ingestibile...andiamo via,và!

La mia faccia riassume il mio entusiasmo globale per il posto!

The next day we take a tour of the French quarter,to find that the  historical Cafè du monde is run by chineses(nothing against them,but not so typical for NOLA)and with an unebearable quantity of tourists inside.

Mi sono dovuto sorbire l'ennesimo museo sulla seconda guerra mondiale...cosa non si fa per amore!

Ultima cosa in Louisiana facciamo un tour guidato delle paludi con avvistamento ravvicinato di alligatori e non solo....

I love IHOP so damn much!!!! i needed energy to bear another war museum,this time on the american civil wars.Loved the flags room though!

Mi serviva energia per pipparmi un altro museo sulla guerra..stavolta guerra civile americana.La sala delle bandiere era interessante però!

Dined at the Vortex in Atlanta,Georgia.Best hamburgers ever,and a great beer aged in the barrels that held bourboun whiskey before her.Astonishing!

Ad Atlanta,Georgia,ceniamo al Vortex,dove mangiamo gli hamburger più buoni della nostra vita.

Il posto è molto particolare e oltre all'ottimo cibo ho bevuto questa birra,una stout affinata nelle botti dove prima dimorava del bourbon whiskey.

Una meraviglia!!!

Ultimo giorno ad Atlanta,visitiamo il museo della Coca-Cola,dovrei mettervi 500 foto ma mi limito a raccontarvi dei nuovi distributori(già attivi in molti fast food come il Five Guys),con i quali,grazie a varie combinazioni di bibite base e sciroppi,gestibili via touch screen,si possono scegliere fra 100 gusti di bibita;impressionante!!!!

The Coca-cola museum in Atlanta,where we took a thousand pics,but i'll only tell you about the freestyle machine:a touch screen that allows you to make your own mix of tastes,reaching an assortment of more than 100 different drinks.They are already used in many fast foods,but to our italians this really looks like sci-fi stuff!

E la visita all'acquario,bello ma veramente troppo zeppo di gente!!!!Roba da crisi di nervi.

E' tutto per questo post riassuntivo,certe cose,come la visita alla Jack Daniel's e il museo della Coca-cola,secondo me meriterebbero un post a parte,a meno che non abbiate voglia di iscrivervi a usaontheroad.it per leggere in questo topic tutto il diario dettagliatissimo ;)
